May 2002: On the opening night of Big Brother 3, Jade Goody - a 20-year-old dental nurse from Bermondsey - is one of 12 contestants to enter the house. Her upfront, outspoken nature makes her an immediate tabloid target - and at the end of week one, a public vote deems Jade and 30-something art student Lynne the most unpopular housemates.

However, Jade is saved from eviction by the rest of the household, who vote unanimously for her to stay - while Lynne is sent packing. Tellingly, Jade is never put up for eviction by her fellow housemates, and stays in the house for the remaining eight weeks of the show.
